About This Seed
An aggregate fruit (cone-like pod) roughly 3-5 inches long, fuzzy and tan/green with numerous follicles. When mature, individual bright red, fleshy seeds emerge and hang by thin silky threads. The resulting tree is a massive evergreen with glossy, leathery leaves and large, fragrant white flowers.

Sow in autumn immediately after collection or store in cool/moist conditions for spring planting.
Germination
Requires 3-6 months of cold, moist stratification at 32-45°F. Fleshy red coat (aril) must be cleaned off before sowing. Germination is slow and can take several months.
Planting Instructions
Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep in rich, organic-rich soil. If starting in pots, use deep containers to accommodate taproot. Prefers slightly acidic pH (5.0-6.5).
