About This Seed
The seed is contained within a thick, woody, dark-brown bean-like pod. The pod is 5-10 inches long, containing large, round, dark chocolate-brown seeds roughly 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter with a hard, stony coat. The mature tree grows 60-80 feet with bipinnately compound leaves and a coarse branch structure.

Germination
Seed must be scarified (filing or acid) then soaked in warm water for 24 hours. Germination takes 14-30 days at 70-75°F (21-24°C). Rate is high if seed coat is successfully breached.
Planting Instructions
Plant 1-2 inches deep in well-draining soil. Space saplings at least 20-30 feet apart. Prefers rich, moist soils but is highly adaptable to urban conditions and varied pH levels.
